Funny Business?
Harrogate After Dinner and Motivational Speaker Terry Ryan says that humour is a serious business matter. “Where is is laid down that we have to be serious most of the time to be taken seriously”? he asked.
Terry a former Company Director feels that there is an in built prejudice in the minds of many business people which prevents them from attempting humour because they equate it with being undignified or unprofessional. “However research has shown that laughter is a great antedote to stress and that people who use laughter to convey a serious point are more likely to get commitment from those around them”. Just as long as you remember the difference between playing the fool and being a fool you will be fine - using humour means taking a risk but leaving it out is like having a cake with no icing” He added.
Well known Harrogate After Dinner Speaker and enthusiastic but erratic swimmer Terry Ryan has reached an agreeement to provide members of the Harrogate Academy Health Club and Spa http://www.theacademy.co.uk/ with a 10% Discount for all bookings taken from Sunday September 20th.
The Academy will be displaying posters about Terry throughout week commencing 20th September. Addittional information will be available in the reception area.
Terry commented “This is not a one off promotion - it is an ongoing arrangement which will hopefully benefit both my speaking business and my fellow athletes at the Academy” He added “For many years fellow club members have been amazed at what I get up to in the swimming pool - I have heard remarks such as “unbelievable” and “I can’t believe it” used many times - so I thought they might like to know that I am not in fact an olympic swimmer (over 55’s one arm tied behind back, 1st reserve bronze medal acquatic pets category) so I have finally come out as a Public Speaker”.
